The Cascading Pines: A Landscape Designed for Stillness

The Cascading Pines is a large-scale residential landscape designed as a serene retreat within a mature pine forest. The goal of this project was to create an outdoor environment that feels immersive, grounded, and restorative—one that invites quiet moments while remaining deeply connected to the natural surroundings.

The landscape unfolds through a series of carefully terraced spaces supported by natural stone retaining walls and thoughtfully placed stairs, allowing the site’s elevation changes to feel intentional and cohesive. Multiple paver patios create distinct areas for gathering, rest, and reflection, while winding pathways guide movement gently through the property.

A custom cascading water feature anchors the design, weaving through the landscape and enhancing the sense of calm with sound, texture, and visual rhythm. Layered planting softens the stonework and brings seasonal interest, while a dedicated meditation garden and custom swing provide places to pause and fully experience the space.

Every element—from the custom fencing to the boulder placement—was selected to complement the existing forest and create a landscape that feels timeless, peaceful, and deeply personal to the homeowners.
